Somali Independence Day Celebration
On June 28, SACOO proudly celebrated Somali Independence Day with our community. The event brought together families, youth, elders, and friends for an evening of culture and celebration as we honored Somalia’s journey to independence.
Attendees enjoyed traditional music, dancing, delicious food, and cultural performances that showcased the richness of Somali heritage. The celebration also provided an opportunity for younger generations to connect with their roots and learn more about the history and significance of Somali Independence.
With over 200 community members in attendance, the event was filled with joy. We are grateful to everyone who joined us in celebrating this special occasion and helping keep our culture and traditions alive.
Dhanto Group
Six girls from our youth program performed a traditional Somali Dhanto dance during our Somali Independence Day celebration.
The girls spent time practicing together and did a great job sharing an important part of Somali culture with the community. Their performance showed confidence teamwork and pride in their heritage.
We are so proud of our youth for representing our community and helping keep Somali traditions alive.
